Whoops!
A 'minor off' in the Solway Coast Rally resulted in the floor pans being pushed up inside the car and the exhaust was crushed between the diff skid plate and the road, ripping off the backbox. The car continued, running 4th in the 2wd class, until a slippery section on the second last stage landed it in a ditch. Not a big problem but with the marshalls distracted by a much bigger incident it was day over.

Rather than write screeds I think it's best just to let the pictures tell the story. The floorpans were beaten back down and skid plates were made up to smooth out the underside. This should protect the floor in future events. Once welded in place a good dose of Hammerite and seam sealer protects everything. The jacking points were repaired where necessary and location points welded in for new lightweight jack. The exhaust was the simple bit, now tucked up alongside the diff and routed much closer to the body to give better ground clearance. |
